This is another terrible story in which a 17 month old baby was beaten to a pulp by none other than his foster mother. Investigators were sickened to see the baby in this condition when they arrived at Teyuana Cummings’s Apartment.
Teyuana is 32 years old but she hasn’t been charged as yet.
Kymell looked 'like he was thrown against the wall on a daily basis' and was 'covered with deep bruises,' investigators claimed. The boy is in a critical condition. The doctors at Brookdale University Hospital found numerous injuries & some are old enough to suggest that the baby have been repeatedly abused.
Moreover, neighbors heard constant shouting & screaming from the apartment. They also heard the sound of a baby crying most of the time.
Maribel Pejada, one of the neighbors who lives next door, alleged that Cummings was horrible to the boy. She claimed: 'Sometimes when the baby was crying they would leave the baby outside the door. They would just leave him there all by himself for hours sometimes. Everyone would hear him crying and crying. He would hit his head against the door trying to get in. It was awful."
Even on Wednesday night Mrs Pejada heard arguing next door and Kymell crying again.
She said: 'Then I heard a loud thump on the wall and the baby stopped crying.
'The little baby was screaming again Thursday morning. Screaming real loud. I heard lots of fighting. Lots of arguing. I hear screaming all the time from that apartment.'
Besides Kymell, Cummings takes care of another foster child who is nine year old & she’s also a biological mother of a 10 year old. This is not the 1st time, this woman is in trouble. She had been charged with 2 counts of assault, menacing, criminal mischief and harassment in November 2009 and shoplifting in October 2010.
The thing is…how could they allow a person of no credibility & criminal record to look after children? Plus the accounts of neighbors prove that this woman is psychotic. Who would leave a baby outside the house? I’m shocked that they let her foster kids with this kind of history. She shouldn’t be allowed to go near kids & here they give her ample opportunities to take out her madness on children. I think the department of social services is more responsible for this abuse rather than this crazy woman. I won’t raise the question of check & balance; this is a case of negligent on the part of those who didn’t care to look into Cummings’s past record. Moreover, why didn’t the neighbors report about all this to the police before? All this while, they kept mum about this abnormal behavior of Cummings. Why couldn’t they inform child services about it? I think they are all at fault. Kymell is barely clinging to life. If he dies, it’s not just Cummings who is responsible…it’s the entire society that was sleeping all the while she abused this child.
