- The comedian joked that she once had to warn her A-list friends off mingling with the Kardashian clan
She draws in over a million viewers to The Chelsea Lately Show with her hilarious and hard-hitting interviews.
And with her comedic genius, Chelsea Handler has now become a household name.
But the 36-year-old's fate at E! Entertainment is hanging in the balance, as the funny-woman reviews her contract at the U.S. Network.
In the balance: Chelsea Handler, host of The Chelsea Lately Show is currently negotiating her contract at E! Entertainment
Handler is currently in negotiations with the station as her contract expires at the end of next year.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the network is desperate to keep the sharp-tongued blonde, who's show ranks fourth behind Keeping Up The Kardashians, Kendra and Holly's World, but they will have to pay the right price.
Handler, who brought in $40 million for E! in 2009, however is relaxed and unfazed about the negotiations.
'We'll see how it goes,' she said. 'And if it works out for me to stick around here... It may turn out that I'm done altogether. I can't keep doing the same thing, my brain is bleeding.'
'It's a lengthy process. They tell you're valuable, and then you get a counter and you think, 'I guess you really don't care about me at all.' Nothing is set in stone, so if things go south, then obviously I will be moving along.'
Honest: In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Chelsea said she didn't 'want to be doing the same thing for five years more'
When asked what she would do next if she left the show, Handler said that she prefers not to plan ahead.
'I'm not one to plan ahead, but I don't want to be doing the same thing for five years more.'
There have been considerations of Handler having more involvement in NBC, E!'s sister network, and perhaps even getting her own late night talk show.
She currently has a comedy program that is set to air on NBC, titled Are You There, Vodka, It's Me Chelsea? the same namesake as her best-selling book.
But Handler says that she isn't the woman for the late-night job.
'The next step for me is not The Tonight Show,' she said. 'That's a job for Jimmy Fallon. I'm way too divisive for a show like that.'
She said that if she was to continue the Lately Show, she will certainly be making changes.
'If Lately is the show that I'm going to do, it's going to change.'
But Handler is keen to reiterate that nothing is set in stone.
'...I want to do something that's more mindful and isn't celebrity-centred. I'm not looking to totally bail on E! They've done a lot for me, and I like it here... If you take away the Kardashians.'
In the interview, the comedian also joked that she once had to warn her A-list friends off mingling with the Kardashian clan.
'Jennifer [Aniston] said she saw the Kardashians at dinner last night,' she joked.
Cheeky: The comedian also joked that she once had to warn her A-list friends off mingling with the Kardashian clan
'She was like, 'They're nice.' And I said: "Don't get photographed with the Kardashians!' People will blame me for it!"
Three of Handler's books have all made the New York Times best-seller list.
In her personal life, she is currently dating hotelier Andres Balazs.
Handler was last year linked to rap star 50 Cent and she previously dated E! Entertainment Television executive Ted Harbert for four years.
Balazs's two year relationship with Thurman ended in 2006.
