Pink Panther Sculpture Coming To New York

Jeff Koon with his famous Pink Panther sculpture


Jeff Koon's sculpture of the Pink Panther hugging a bare-breasted blonde is coming to New York for auction on May 10. It will bring around $20 to $30 milllion.


Three of these Pink Panther editions were made. One was sold in 1999 at Christie's for $1.8 million. The others are in the Museum of Modern Art and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago.


I actually love the way Pink Panther appears on this sculpture and his hands on her back are looking so cute. If only the blonde should have been slightly nicer.

Veena Malik Breaks Her Engagement

A few days ago, just when Veena Malik was evicted from Bigg Boss 4, my sister saw on some local morning show that people were predicting the future of Veena Malik. As per that, Veena would break her current engagement. 


So, the prediction has apparently come true. Veena Malik announced that she has decided to end her engagement with her fiance Faisal Akbar Khan. Faisal is a business man in New York and a family friend of Veena Malik. 


Media assumes, this break up has something to do with Ashmit Patel and Veena's closeness. Veena said once again that Ashmit is a good friend but nothing more. Veena said it is her own personal decision and the only reason why she called it off was because she tried hard to work on this relationship but the two can't understand each other well. She has to work hard on her career and so she feels she can't marry him without much understanding. This is why she broke the engagement with Faisal.





She said Faisal proposed a long time ago but she was not interested. It was after her Mohammad Asif dumped her, she came under lots of controversy and Asif married somebody else, that Veena's family asked her to marry Faisal. Veena couldn't refuse her family then after going through so much in her love life.


This is what she said:


"I called up Faisal and told him that I can no longer marry him. I told him that I am breaking the engagement as I have to focus on my career. We couldn't develop an understanding and there was no use in dragging this engagement any further."


Well fair enough if this is what is going through her head. Sometimes when you get into a relationship because of others when you are not mentally ready for it, your heart hardly accepts it. For some people such a situation can be suffocating. I kind of know this feeling. Though the guy seems to be decent but Veena believes she has many men out there waiting for her as she said in Bigg Boss 4 also...so perhaps she would eventually find someone else.

International Pillow Fight Day Celebrated

International Pillow Fight Day was celebrated worldwide on April 2nd in 115 cities in 39 countries. Volunteers organized the event through social networking sites.


Thousands of people from New York to Hong Kong celebrated the day, which started out in 2008. A pillow fight day is a social phenomenon of flash mobbing and all the promotion is always internet based. More cities are getting used to this fun flash mobbing.


The rules were quite clear. No body should be injured and it should be a pleasant pillow fight. Thus soft pillows were to be used, no body holding a camera or wearing glasses should be hit with the pillow.


Taipei, the capital of Taiwan participated in the pillow fight too but their pillows remembered the people in Japan as the pillows they used had 'Pray For Japan' printed on them. These pillows were sold to raise money to help in the recent tsunami.

Picasso's Masterpiece To Be Displayed In London

This particular painting was created by Picasso in 1932 and was sold at Christies in New York for a record price of $106.5 million. It will be displayed at the Tate Modern on London's South Bank.


Art lovers are excited because this is one of the most incredible paintings of Picasso. This is considered his greatest works of inter war period. 


This painting has been lent to the gallery by a private collector and will be on display in a new Pablo Picasso room in the Poetry and Dream wing of the building.

Woman Smashed Liquor Bottles In New York Wine Store

This is an interesting and maddening piece of news from New York. A woman at a suburban New York liquor store swept her arm through a shelf of high priced booze and liquor bottles because she was angry. The woman smashed $1600 worth of liquor bottles only because she felt the clerk was taking too long to wait on her. The damage was quite a lot and many pricey bottles of Johnnie Walker Blue Label Scotch were smashed too in this event.


The store was Rite-Buy Wines and Liquors Nyac. This video shows how the woman used her right arm to knock off the bottles from a waist high self. The incident took place on Feb 23rd. The woman turned herself and is to appear in court on March 16th. 

Check out this surveillance video. This is crazy how she intentionally broke the bottles.

Lady Gaga is using Catholic Imagery

Lady Gaga gave this weird performance at Madison Square Garden in New York City on 21^st February. I believe she was competing with Madonna but I don’t think anyone can outdo her.

As such I don’t dislike Lady Gaga but I don’t find her very impressive either. Or maybe we have seen these stunts earlier on & so they don’t make a deep impression on us anymore.

Some people seriously believe she has committed a crime or sin. You need to think a little harder, if this rape. I don’t like what I see, so I’m not thinking. And we often report about real rape cases. There is just no room for a lousy sense of humor.

But this was bad, really bad :P I don’t see anything sexy about this stupid stunt. However, we admire her guts. She can do anything to herself.
